Ranks
The different ranks are set up to establish member responsibility and their overall role in the guild.
- Alternate
Alts are considered the last in line for all loot and raid spots. They will not get priority over members regardless of member rank. Alternate characters will only be allowed to attend guild-run raids that are considered alt-farm status or by raid leader request. Unless requested expressly by leadership and unanimously approved, an alternate character will never be allowed to be changed to the main. - Social
Social members are people that are in the guild for purely social reasons, whether due to friends and family or just an inability to make the minimum attendance required but don’t want to guild elsewhere. They will not as easily be made raiding members by virtue of social member status. Should they wish to become a regular raiding member, they may app to the guild leadership directly if the guild is recruiting for their class. Social members will be allowed to attend any guild run raids where space is not already taken by higher ranks. They will only get priority over alts for loot. - Inactive
Inactive members are people who were previously raiding members but, due to temporary real life circumstances, could not maintain the minimum required attendance. Inactive members will get priority on raid spots over social members, but they will be low priority for any drops. Inactive members may reclaim raiding member status should they regain their raid team attendance. - Initiate
Initiates are recently invited raiding members. During their initiate phase, they will be low priority for drops and expected to attend every raid they are able. Should their ability and availability be proven, they will be promoted to raiding member status. - Member
Raiding members consist of the core raiding force of the guild. All raiders have priority on loot and initial raid spots over other ranks. We are a raiding guild and the raiding force must be maintained to progress. - Officer
Officers are chosen for their interactions with guild members, time invested in the guild, and knowledge of the game. They are here to help resolve any disputes or concerns and to help plan and lead guild related events. Officers are responsible for helping the leader in establishing the overall direction and goals of the guild. The decisions made by the guild leader involve a lot of debate and input from all the officers and so those in leadership must be active in the guild's progression. Officers are treated like regular raiding members on raids in regards to spots and loot, but they expect members to listen and follow instruction should something be requested. - Guild Master
All final guild decisions must be approved by the guild leader. The guild leader is responsible for maintaining an active, knowledgeable, and diverse officer council. The guild leader is the public face of the guild and so they are responsible for public postings and maintenance of the website. All important decisions made by the guild leader should be run past leadership first before making it policy.
Raid Team
The raid team is nothing more than the members of the guild who make up the active raiding force. Members and new initiates who are capable of meeting the attendance requirements are considered part of the raid team. The raid team is reserved to have between six and eight members per class at any given time and recruiting will attempt to meet this goal.
Initiates will be expected to attend every raid they can while meeting a 75% attendance requirement during their trial period. Initiates that are incapable of meeting the attendance requirements may fail their trial period and be removed from the guild.
Members are expected to continue to make as many raids as possible. If a member's attendance drops below 50% for the previous month, they may be demoted to an inactive status. If they are incapable of reobtaining member level attendance, then they may lose their raid team status and be marked as a Social member or removed from the guild.
Raiding
Before Dawn is, first and foremost, a raiding guild. For raids to operate smoothly, we do demand some general guidelines that should be adhered to at all raids.
- Be online and at the raid zone line at least 15 minutes prior to the raid starting time. Failing to meet this may result in your spot at the raid being given to another guild member.
- If you are online and a raid level member, you are to attend any official, scheduled guild raids. Failing to attend these raids may result in loss of attendance or removal from the raid team.
- Know the encounters. By taking part in the active discussion via the member’s forums, members should have a moderate amount of knowledge surrounding both the encounters that we have already successfully conquered as well as new content we are constantly working toward defeating.
- If you are to attend a raid, then you will be expected to raid. It is understandable that real life may interfere and you will be distracted on a raid night. However, constant AFKs will be frowned upon and may result in raid suspension or removal from raid team. Continually showing up late for a raid or leaving early from a raid may result in reduced credit and possible demotion from raid team.
- There will be zero tolerance for any form of bitching during raids. Raid time is not the time for arguments, petty debates, or whining. Failure to maintain this may result in removal from that raid and suspension from future raids.
- At raids, you are expected to listen to the raid leader and follow his directions. Unless the raid leader has opened the topic for discussion, raid or voice chat are not the place for open debates on raid strategy. The strategy discussions via the member’s raid forums are.
Raid Attendance
- Players online and at the zone line 15-minutes prior to the raid will receive full credit for the raid. Leaving early may result in reduced credit, if any, for that raid.
- If more than 25 members show up for a raid, all players at the zone line for the raid will receive credit for each portion of the raid they are available for. Logging onto an alt is permitted so long as that character is in the guild and it is known you are available in case you are needed.
- Players showing up late to a raid may receive partial credit for the raid provided they are available in the event that spots open up during the raid.
Loot Distribution
Our loot system is a hybrid officer/dkp points system. Officers are there to ensure the system remains in check and the proper classes are getting the gear to ensure our progression remains strong.
You can view our raid attendance tracker here
Alternates
Alternate characters will be permitted to join official guild raids only under certain circumstances. While on official guild raids, alts will earn credit for that player’s main character.
- Alternate characters will not take a raid spot away from any member who wishes it. The only exception may be due to a class balance concern.
- Alternates will never receive loot over mains – Initiate or Member. There will be no exceptions. Any gear alternates acquire will be purchased via their main's raid credit at a discounted price. Member's who are negative will not be allowed to bring alternates to raids.
- Players will not be permitted to switch to an alternate after a raid has started unless specifically asked to by the Raid Leader.
We may periodically retire a zone to alternate run status (Tier 3). These zones will be run on non-raid nights by officers. We will hold to standard random rules in these runs for alternates, but mains may claim priority on gear by spending raid points.
Tiered Zones
- Tier 1
This tier marks the new content we are working on. Members will receive full credit plus a learning bonus under our loot system for attending these raids. Alts will not be allowed except at the discretion of the raid leader to fill needed spots, but will be avoided whenever possible. - Tier 2
This tier marks the content we are currently farming for upgrades. Typically, this is content that has been placed on farm status and we are still gearing members up while learning the next zone in progression. Members will receive full credit for attending these raids. Alternates may be allowed on these runs at the discretion of the raid leader and under the Alternates policy regarding raiding. - Tier 3
This marks content that is old or retired. These raids will rarely be scheduled at official guild raiding times. As such, credit will not be awarded for attending these raids, but alternates are welcome provided appropriate class balance is maintained.
